Evening Tour to the Old City of Jaffa (Optional)

Jaffa is the oldest and perhaps most famous of the ports along the Israel’s coast. From Jaffa port, the Bible records that the prophet Jonah set sail for Tarshish. Some claim that Jaffa was named after Japheth, one of the three sons of Noah, who built it after the Great Flood. A Hebrew etymology indicates that the city is called Jaffa because of its beauty (yofi in Hebrew).

09:30 – 11:30 The Karni Border Terminal

The Karni Terminal, which is near the city of Gaza is a border crossing through which 700-800 trucks loaded with merchandise pass back and forth between Israel and the Gaza Strip every day. For the Palestinian population living in the Strip it serves as a lifeline: Gazan agricultural products and manufactured goods pass through it to Israel, the West Bank and overseas. The new terminal began its operation in April of 1999 after 50 million Shekels were invested in infrastructure and construction and an additional 10 million were spent on security measures.

09:30 - 11:30 Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) – The Orot Rabin Power Plant

IEC, one of the largest industrial companies in Israel, was established in 1923.   The company is a sole vertically integrated electrical utility in the state of Israel and as sole electrical utility in Israel, IEC is responsible for the Gross "Electrical Energy Chain" in the country.  The Orot Rabin Power Plant is the largest power plant in Israel generating %35 of the IEC production capacity. Tour will focus on introducing the participants to access control procedures for personnel and vendors, HR screening and perimeter security.

13:30 - 15:30 Seaport of Haifa

The Haifa Port is Israel's leading port. It is one of the deepest and best protected ports in the Mediterranean. It includes two harbors, with separate conventional, dry cargo, bulk, chemical and container terminals, a free trade zone, a modern passenger terminal and a shipyard for convenient repairs.

19:00  Dinner at the U.S Ambassador’s Residence  

The Ambassador of the United States to Israel and Mrs. Richard H. Jones invite the participants of the Chameleon Associates “Behind The Scenes Tour of Israel Security and Counter-Terrorism Operation” to a dinner at their Hertzelia residence. Tour attendees will have the opportunity of meeting with the Ambassador, U.S embassy staff and Israeli government officials.

The airport utilizes combined methods of Predictive Profiling, Integrated Explosive Detection and CTX machines and a one-of-a kind security engineering concept. Attendees will learn about the unique technologies, methodologies and procedures applied at the Ben Gurion Airport.

13:45 – 15:00 Predictive Profiling and Terrorist Threat Mitigation

This presentation will provide an introduction to the concepts and methodologies behind Israeli security operations. It will feature the strategic thinking behind the design and engineering of the Israeli security infrastructures and the psychology and procedures that motivate the frontline security and law enforcement officer.

13:00 – 15:00 Tour along the Lebanese Border

Attendees will be briefed on the methods, tactics and operations of Hizzbulla and will be able to view first hand, Hizzbulla outposts along the Israeli-Lebanese border. The presentation will be lead by a former Field Agent Operator for the Israeli General Security Services who was involved in clandestine intelligence operations and counter terrorism inside Lebanon for almost two decades. An overview will be given on the recent military campaign Israel has lead in Lebanon in September 2006.
