The Karni Terminal, which is near the city of Gaza is a border crossing through which 700-800 trucks loaded with merchandise pass back and forth between Israel and the Gaza Strip every day. For the Palestinian population living in the Strip it serves as a lifeline: Gazan agricultural products and manufactured goods pass through it to Israel, the West Bank and overseas. The new terminal began its operation in April of 1999 after 50 million Shekels were invested in infrastructure and construction and an additional 10 million were spent on security measures. |

| 19:30 – A discussion with an Israeli security guard who stopped a suicide bomber – (Optional) |
| Mike's place is a live music bar and hang-out place adjacent to the American Embassy in Tel Aviv. On April 29, 2003, terrorists attempted to destroy Mike's Place and everything it stood for. At 12:45AM, a suicide bomber approached Mike's Place and blew himself up at the entrance to the bar - killing three and wounding over 50. Long-time friend and regular, security guard Avi Tabib blocked the bomber, preventing him from entering the bar, and without doubt prevented a far greater tragedy. Attendees will meet Avi Tabib for discussion on the event on April 29th 2003 and will enjoy live music and drinks at the bar. | ||||

The hospitality of the Bedouin is legendary and strangers are welcomed into the Bedouin home with wonderful shows of courtesy and respect. The dangers and hardship of the desert have fostered this approach and, as they are isolated people, encountering others is cause for celebration. A new arrival is often reason enough for a feast. These meetings are celebrated in Bedouin poetry, sayings and songs. |
